Spartan Classic Scores & Highlights
Congratulations to coach Dan Rauch and the Arlington Eagles
as they took home the 1st place trophy in the 2005 AnotherLevel Spartan
Classic. Arlington's relentless pressure defense along with David
Griffith's red hot shooting helped the Eagles outlast the Snohomish
Panthers in their semi-final matchup.
In the other semi-final contest the Redmond Mustangs
defeated the hometown Stanwood Spartans by a score of 48-43.

The
championship game proved to be a great match-up as Arlington outlasted
Redmond in an overtime thriller 41-38. This year 9 leagues were represtented
from the 20 teams that attended the tournament.
Baden Sports was
again a great sponsor and we thank the Seattle Sonics staff for helping
out during our Saturday festivities.
Seth Johnson of Bothell HS set
an all-time tournament record with 18 3 pointers in the final round
to win the 3-Point Shootout.
Mike Simpkens of Central Kitsap HS was
crowned as the winner of the Dunk Contest. |

ANOTHERLEVEL
Summer Classic (Bremerton HS):
June
1-2nd, 2002 Bremerton High School was the site of our
1st annual “ANOTHERLEVEL Summer Classic”.
That year the Rams of Wilson HS took home the first
place trophy in the boy’s varsity basketball
tournament. In June 2004 we completed our 3rd annual
Summer Classic in Bremerton. It has grown into a 3
day event in which 16 high school teams throughout
Washington and Oregon attend. We have been fortunate
to bring in sponsors such as Baden Sports and the Seattle
Sonics to put on a highly competitive tournament in
a fun and exciting atmosphere. Below is a recap of
last summer’s results:
Congratulations to the Thunderbirds of Shorewood High School as they
knocked off the Foss Falcons during Sunday’s Championship game
of the 2004 ANOTHERLEVEL Summer Classic. This year’s tourney featured
a total of 40 games and the weekend was packed with great high school
hoops. Six trophies were awarded to the most outstanding players.
Here is the list of our All-Tournament Selections:
Neil Fryer - Central Kitsap (53 points
scored on Friday night’s game)
Earnest Williams – Foss
Daes Kaufmann – Stanwood
Sean Tracey –Shorewood
Desmond Martin –Foss (Dunk Contest Champion)
Rob Diederichs - Shorewood (led Shorewood with 21 points in the Championship
game)

ANOTHERLEVEL
Spartan Classic (Stanwood HS):
On
July 9-11, 2004 we coordinated our second boy’s tournament of the
summer moving up north to Stanwood High School. This inaugural 16 team
tournament featured an action packed weekend with some of the top schools
in the state. We are grateful to coach Nate DuChesne for allowing us
to put on a tournament in such a basketball rich community, and for devoting
so much of his time to help make it happen. Representatives from the
Seattle Sonics staff were on hand to offer prizes and giveaway items,
and Baden Sports provided quality sponsorship. A big thank you to Windermere
Real Estate of Camano Island as they coordinated and funded a Saturday
evening barbecue for all the players, coaches, and fans. Below is a recap
of the 2004 ANOTHERLEVEL Spartan Classic:
After knocking off the reigning state champs from Kentwood HS in an exciting
overtime thriller, the Puyallup Vikings set up a Championship showdown
with the Snohomish Panthers who outlasted Auburn HS in the other semi-final
contest. Lead by sharp-shooter Johnny Spevak, the athletic Austin Kilpatrick,
and a strong supporting cast, the Puyallup Vikings proved to have too
many offensive weapons outlasting Snohomish to take home the 1st place
crown.
]All-tournament trophies were awarded
to following six players:
Johnny Spevak – Puyallup HS
(3-Point Shootout winner)
Blake Solomon - Kentwood HS
Nate VanDuine - Snohomish HS
Aaron Boyce - Kentwood HS
Austin Kilpatrick – Puyallup HS (Dunk-Contest champion)
Dan Welk - Stanwood HS
